Life Over--caught Cheating-example
Any time you are in the public eye, everything you say or do is subject to interpretation by the public. It’s the price you pay for fame. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was forced to resign in September 2008 and it all began with some controversial text messages. The messages exposed he was cheating on his wife, then a domino effect initiated as he desperately tried to back peddle his way out. The deeper the media searched the more scandal they uncovered. He now faces jail time, a million dollar fine, reputation destroyed, disrespect from peers, trust issues with wife and kids, the other woman’s future career is tainted. Flashback to former President Bill Clinton and we see some similarities.
So what is to be learned from all this. If you ever are fortunate enough to reach star status, successful in the public service or date someone who is, be aware that the media is always present. If they look deep enough they will find some dirt on you. The media adores it when someone rich, famous or successful falters. On a more personal note, if you openly do something on the down-low, friends and peers will begin to speculate based upon conjecture and formulate an opinion. Keeping it real and being genuine is much more appealing then misrepresenting yourself. Avoid stress and drama by being responsible…….sure it’s not as fun but in the end you have your dignity and respect. Failure to do so and you may be held accountable or worse face the repercussions for your actions.
