If you are susceptible to letting a chick or anyone for that matter gas your head up then you will be just as susceptible to that or those same people doing a possible 180 one day and tearing you down.
You need to be level headed, confident and sure of yourself without needing some chick or chicks no matter how much you like her or how hot she is or what good things she has to say about you to give you a self-esteem boost. This is not to say you brush everything off or get paranoid or angry as if everything good a chick or people say about you is a "trick". It's just to say that if you are easily susceptible to having your head gassed up by being told you are the "best she's ever had, biggest dink she's ever had, best lover etc." if that SAME person in the future does a 180 and you break up etc then she trashes you wind up being torn down.
Take compliments, words etc. with a smile and a grain of salt. Don't start "feeling yourself" with your head in the clouds as if you completely rely on someone else opinion of you even IF it's always complimentary. Because far too many dudes fly high when their dream girl or "perfect girl" tells them what they want them to hear or is sincere at the time then down the line if things go sour trashes them and they wind up screwed up over that same person doing a complete 180 or finding someone "better".
It happens in all facets of life. Pro Athletes etc. Their "fans" and "close friends" will live vicariously through them, tell them all the things they want to hear and start "feelin themselves" until things change or the "next best thing" comes along and all the "compliments" etc. dwindle and they end up all screwed up, alcoholics, on drugs etc.
Keep yourselves grounded at all times.
