"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

There's this girl that I talk to over the internet from time to time. We're are somewhat friends but we don't do a lot of stuff together. I liked her in the past and she knows that I liked her because I told her (bad mistake, I know). Well, a couple days ago we talked about valentine's day and whether if we got anyone special on the side. She said that she doesn't have anyone. Not because she is picky, but because she isn't looking for one. So I told her "jokingly" that if I have see a decent guy out there I'll tell her. She then responded by laughing and telling me that it would be unfair for him because she doesn't have a lot of time. I was puzzled at her statement and was wondering if she was trying to tell me something. I could be looking too much into this but I would just like someone else's opinion.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

How far away does this girl live? Have you ever met her off of the computer? Have you seen her picture?

Also, it sounds to me like she saw though what you were saying and isn't interested - if a girl likes someone, she makes time for them. You see this in the beginning of many relationships; the girl seems to have a boring life because she's opening it up to you. It's only when she doesn't like you anymore that she suddenly becomes "so busy".

I think the way I was writing was misleading. We know eachother from highschool but didn't really get that close. But, I usually chat with her on the internet here and there. But, yah I guess that if she was interested she would become more available. The weird thing is that I said that I would take her out this weekend for valentine's day and she agreed.

Nothing subtle about this one - she doesn't want to hook up with you. She will make time if she does. At the moment you are just stroking her ego by chatting with her cos she knows you are into her.

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.
