"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

Stupid ring question

This past weekend I went to my favorite bar in town. I've been going there for five years and it's a really cool bar which is Orlando's equivalent to Cheers, the friendly neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name.

Anyway, there was this real gorgeous female bartender who I chatted up for a long time and she kept hanging around me all night long. (She even neg hit me on my age.) I think there might be potential there, but there is one thing I noticed which draws my curiousity. She wore a ring on her left pinky; at that, a very nice ring, and I first thought she was married until I noticed it was on her pinky.

From what I understand, a ring on the pinky is particular to older women in their late twenties and beyond. It's their way of hinting "I'm single." But since younger women hint at singlehood by, duh, not having any rings on their fingers, the question arises: single but in what way? Is it "I'm single and want to get married" or "I'm single and slutty"?

I was able to strongly infer the bartender is most likely single, but I still am curious what the ring signifies in general.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Yo Deep Dish,

I'm not aware of any secret code of jewelry placement. Nor am I one of the lords of the "rings", so I can't really help you there...lol

BUT, I would say, rather than wasting another second of your precious life wondering about it, just find a way to pull this chick to the side and cooly and confidently give her the "gift" of going out with you, or spending some time with you AWAY from the bar.

Then, after you put it out there, shut the fukk up and pay attention to whatever you see and hear coming from her immediately after you "put it out there". Anything other than a quick "yes" indicates that she has either low to moderate interest in you, OR that she is in the process of making a value judgement as to whether or not spending time with you is a BETTER option than NOT.

And after you "ask her out, or whatever guys like to call it these days...", DON'T HELP HER WITH HER ANSWER. Much can be gleaned by the length of her reaction time, the enthusiasm of her response, and or the potentially UNCOMFORTABLE silence that will manifest itself if she DOESN'T give you a response at all (and yes, I've seen this happen...).

I know you already KNOW all these things, Deep Dish. I basically just wrote all of this mostly for the benefit of others. But what I mean for YOU to come away with is THIS simple reminder:

Whenever a man finds himself spending 5 minutes trying to analyze what a woman is thinking...then he's already spent 4 minutes TOO LONG.

ACTION, my friend.

...and ACTION----this day, if at all possible.

It signifies that it is the "one ring" which controls all the AFCs who don't have the courage to ask her if she's available.

DD, nobody can tell you sh*t that you don’t already know.

So I’ll just remind you to play to your strength, use your curiosity to probe her for her answers and opinions. She will know if you genuinely care to explore her answers further.

Personally, this is my strongest play. Simple, genuine curiosity. They know.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

so far no one has any idea what various ring fingers mean. so any woman who wears a ring on a certain finger to send a message to men is an idiot, cuz none of us know what it means. heck, i know single women who wear rings on their marriage finger. i asked a few of them why they did that since they were single, their response? "i love this ring and it only fits on this finger." ummm ok, whatever.

do not try to understand women and their rings.

you should really revert to a simplier method of assessing women. are you attracted to her? yes? then go talk to her.

simple.

I see women wearing rings on their ring fingers that don't seem to be for an engagement all the time. It could be an easy out for them if they get approached by somebody that doesn't make the grade. I guess I need to start incquiring to find out. That might help.

you: "hey i was wondering what that ring on your finger meant?"
her: oh this? its to harmonize my chi energy.
you: very cool. i wear a ring for that also.
her: really? i don't see any rings on your fingers.
you: ya, you don't wear this kind of ring on your finger. giggidy giggidy giggidy.

Don't worry about what her stupid ring "means."

F*ck her or DON'T f*ck her.

Jesus.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Dish....sorry i couldn't make it to the shindig over the weekend, ended up having to work late. Happy birthday, BTW.

As for the ring thing, I would just ask her. Could there be a more perfect opportunity to engage a female in just the kind of mindless babble that they so enjoy?

Either that or take me over there and I'll size her up for you...lol
