well the girl ill be going out with after exams just told me to step my game up... meaning?

Care to give us background information?

When somebody tells me to step my game up, it's because I failed a simple sh!t test, or I got caught in a lie, I didn't follow up on leads, I didn't take a hint, I didn't approach who I should have.

There are TONS of reasons man, it's just saying your game is lacking.

So if it bothers you, there must be something more to the situation.
