I am getting a membership at my local gym with my best friend from school... What do you suggest I start on?

get into the stickied posts in this sub forum, viz 'where to start' et al. make sure you do as much back as chest, tris as bis, do your squats and learn to dead lift light at first. start with a two day split and just learn your way around the big compound moves - (do a search). learn good form with an empty bar and most importantly: do your chin ups and dead lifts, and work your whole body.
and last: don't look for visible results more than once a month. just increase your poundages 2.5lb a week; slow and steady wins the race, don't get disheartened if you don't see the results you want at first. AND: you are not a hardgainer (this will make sense later)
