Master Don Juan
The countdown has begun to what will inevitably be an ugly situation. Things may very well go Waco. The police have been indiscriminately pepper-spraying the protestors and shooting them with rubber bullets and water cannons in freezing weather. Tempers have had a long time to rise. Some of those protestors are ready to die, and the police are more than ready to kill.
The headline below shows how much Obama is in the back pocket of the oil industry and corporate America. All he has to do is stall for another six months and let Trump be the bad guy who presides over the Standing Rock Massacre, but he won't even do that. His actions and words regarding Black Lives Matter protestors versus those regarding Standing Rock protestors show two very different attitudes.
And it's not like this conflict is even that difficult to solve. The protestors are concerned that tunneling under the river with the pipeline will lead to it leaking and contaminating their water. That's a valid concern. So make the pipeline go over the river and give the Indians minimum wage jobs sitting underneath it watching for leaks. How hard can this be? Those hordes of police on the scene aren't working for free. It's tax dollars paying them, but they are serving as security for the oil company. If the oil company was the one paying for all of this mess, a compromise would have been reached long ago.

After months of inaction on the Dakota Access pipeline protest, the Obama administration has put itself at odds with the Standing Rock Sioux by giving protesters 10 days to vacate the camps illegally located on federal land.
