Squats at home, by yourself?

Ok I don't like the Gym because I can focus better at home, and it's cheaper. I have a bench and chinup bar. So I can do all my exercises except squats.

Dose anyone do squats at home? I can clean or jerk (or whatever it's called) small weights onto my sholders. But I could never get 120kg's onto my sholders. Can I just hold massive dumbells by my side? I might look into getting a squat rack. I think it will be expensive tho. Maybe I'll buy a welder and make my own.

Ok this is going to be hard to explain but... What if I got rope (about 1m long, the height from my sholders to the ground when I'm at the bottom of my squat). tied it from the bar to the weight. Then the weight would only activeate after 1m! Wow I just though of that while typeing this. I'm going to try it then get back to you.

Ok, so i discovered hack squats. will try them.

Or I could just get to tables to lift off from.

If you know how to weld you could try to rig something with some scrap steel. There's a difference between just sticking metal together and making a joint that won't fail under load when welding though.

I tried the hack squat route too, but it was too uncomfortable for me, finally gave in and went to the campus gym.

At first it was just going to be for leg day so I could squat properly, I go for every workout now, really worth it to me to have the right equipment.

I bought an adjustable power rack off of ebay for 400 bucks. Works great since I don't have a spotter.
