I just got a ticket for going 60 in a 30. I can pay the money but I don't want my dad to find out, If i Pay with my checking account he will find out and.... does it appear on insurance?

not only does it appear on insurence but your insurence might go up (depending on the law around your state...)
i suggest you tell your dad, it anin't gona be fun, but at least you might avoid some expences...

Go directly to the court house with the paper in hand.
Pay cash and ask them if "this is going on record".
I went 140 and rolled a truck over in a 40 zone. I got a fine for driving over the speed limit but nothing went on record.
What Spider said could be true, but if you just pay the fine and not argue against it nothing should go onto your record.

Call the agency that wrote you the ticket and inquire about a driving class.
I think if you go to a drivers safety course your insurance will not be notified.
Purchase money order's to make payments for the course.
But, most importantly, SLOW DOWN. There are children walking and riding their bikes home from school. A 30 mph area is pretty congested and a ticket could be the least of your problems if you do not learn to drive safer.

In canada a school zone is 30kmph... less than 20mph(School zone?)
30mph is nearly 50kmph thats like the top speed limit of the entire town I live in.

I went 101 in a 60 and ended up with a ticket for $350 and 4 points. The insurence would have been up to the roof. Instead i paid a lawyer $1200 and he nagotiated it down to $60 speeding ticket (no points). I don't think insurence even knows about it yat.flippinfreak said:

Many times when they give those classes (they cost about $40 or so)...you only have to pay the court for the appointment (about $50). So, instead of paying $200+...you might end up paying $90. And they might not put that in your driving record.
Another thing...in many states, going 20 miles over the speed limit is Reckless Driving and a MANDATORY court visit.
Of course, you have to find out if your county/state/etc. gives those classes and similar rules.

60 in a 30 is way too fast bro. Thats 30mph over...in some jurisdictions they might regard that as reckless driving.
When you get a traffic ticket, most people go to court, admit guilt, and the magistrate will drop the points if you pay the fine.
Your case might be a little different because most people who show up in court were going 10-15mph over the speed limit. If you can afford it, I would have a traffic lawyer represent you. If not, do what others have said, admit guilt. Don't play around, tell them you were being an idiot and you learned from your mistake.
When I had my 240SX, i thought i was a harda** and used to do that crap. Then I joined Sports Car Club of America autocross competitions and realized how little I knew.

Its 40km/h for school zone here. And yeah, in suburban areas its 50km/h and it goes to 80km/h on the "highways" (outskirts of town and on connectiong roads).flippinfreak said:

I know a ton of lawyers who have speeding tickets reduced to a 50 dollar parking ticket for free. I think they do it becaue it doesn't take too much time for them and it's good promotional work for them because of the word of mouth. If I were in your situation that's what I'd do or look for, but then again it may not be the same where you are.

lower the court fine by calling the phone number on the back of the ticket and inquire about the class. it lowers the ticket payment and saves your insurance.

Your insurance will go up, no matter what state you live in, unless you are eligible for traffic court, in which case it won't appear on your record, and your insurance premium won't go up.
Most insurance companies run your MVR (motor vehicle report) once a year, when your policy renews, so it might take the company a while to figure it out, but they will figure it out eventually. Depending on the laws of your state, they might be able to retroactively raise your rates back to when you got the ticket.
You can probably do the traffic court online. It takes about 6-8 hours, and there's no shortcuts in it - you have to put in the full time.
Here's my advice for what it's worth:
- Contest the ticket and go to court. If the officer doesn't show up (and often they don't), your ticket gets cancelled.
- If they do show up, claim that you weren't going fast and that the radar gun must have malfunctioned.
- If that doesn't work, pay the ticket.
I think the worst that can happen is that you pay what you'd have to pay anyway, and the best is that the ticket gets cancelled, but I Am Not A Lawyer.
Also, if you can go to traffic school and have it removed, that's a right I believe, not something that the judge can give you or not give you. Check into it.
