"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

So there I was, feeling quite down and discouraged last Saturday night after having shared with most of you about two of the many unfortunate and negative exoeriences I've had in terms of dating here in the U.S. for the most part. From often getting the "I have a boyfriend line" to approaching women at my former university only to find out that they were best friends with other women at my school who I found attractive, had hit on, and actually worked with, to talking to a woman at my gym only to find out that her best-friend once dated my older brother, etc. The list is endless.

Anyway, so I sat there, almost having lost all hope...watching TV in the living room, unable to go out to any lounges or clubs because I no longer have a car, etc. Then suddenly, at 10:51 p.m., this African lady from Tanzania, who was one of my co-workers while a senior in college at my former university, called me. Now, we all know that when a woman calls you at 10:51 p.m. on your cell phone, she definitely means business. My communication with her has been on and off. She has an extremely big ass and several guys at my former university had been trying to talk to her. She basically has been hitting on me indirectly, and because I have been playing hard to get, she seems to have been enjoying the thrill of the chase. I thought she had given up, since it had been almost two months since I heard from her.

In her voice mail, she said I should call her back and that she was just calling to see how I was doing. For the first time, I called her back that same night and we talked and are working to set something up for the near future. She did mention to me that she has a boyfriend, but that hasn't stopped her from wanting to go out with me and I don't even bother bringing up the topic.

Her phone call was important because it rekindled the internal fire of hope in me and I was able to regain the right frame of mind to get back into the dating scene and to go out there and take a chance and talk to strangers once again like I used to do in the past. Now, I focus my thoughts on the women who have told me in the past that they find me attractive and very handsome and good looking. I've decided to honestly care less about any woman who turns me down because it honestly is her loss and not mine. I fill my thoughts with the words of women who have told me: "You are a great catch."

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I absolutely hate with a passion to hear that from a woman. I KNOW I'm a great catch. All that means coming from a woman is that "I am not attracted at all to you but want to deflect that fact with a compliment." Do not dellude yourself. If a woman says that and is not attracted to you, it is meaningless. If you are such a great catch, why isn't she begging to be with you? You are such a great catch, so why is she so eager to have someone ELSE "catch" you? Think about it.

Look inward for strength. Hell, look anywhere EXCEPT to women for strength. For they will provide you with poison in the disguise of strength. Why do you think a need for a forum such as SoSuave exists?

I'm glad you are back on your feet, and have new hope.

Re:

Tilltheeendoftime,

I understand your point, but in this case, you misinterpreted what I was saying. The woman who had told me a long time ago that I was a great catch was someone who I could see from all signs was interested in me, probably attracted, but who I wasn't interested in. We had become close friends and I was asking her a dating question to get it from a woman's perspective.

To the poster who asked about the Tanzanian chick, we agreed to meet when the weather gets a bit warmer. She lives in NJ. I live in Philly. When we talked, there had been a severe winter storm and it was freezing.
