"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

I was at the bar last night with my friends hangin out nad playing pool. My friend Josh (natural dj) and his girlfriend Danielle here also. Now Danielle left her camera at home and was trying to convince josh to go home and get it for her. He refused, and then she tried using this ridiculous baby face and he still refused (my opinion of him raised) and she wouldnt get it herself. So then she goes to big dave. Hes a little large, hence his nickname and also a total afc. She then uses her 'female charm' to get him to go leave the bar and go to her house and pick up her camera for her. He comes back and she's all like oooooh thankyou dave your such a sweethear ::hug and kiss on cheek:: That guy is so desperate and wont stand up for himself. The way she plays him despite the fact that she has a boyfriend just makes me want to puke. Even in my afc days I never would have stooped so low as to be an errand runner for some lazy chic. What did he get out of it? A hug, oh wow he must be feeling special now. Then she ignores him for the rest of the night. Excuse me while I puke again. Ok i'm good now that I got that out of my system.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

The only good thing out of that is that hopefully the AFCs in this forum can read this and 1) learn what NOT to do and 2) feel better about themselves if they aren't that bad.

Though if 'big Dave' is very much like you...*sigh*

Big dave is only doing the logical thing to get in her favour

But when it comes to women logic goes out of the window :D

It's always sickening when you see someone else doing it and it's blatantly obvious how sad it is, but I was just like Big Dave for years and I didn't even know it.

There are some good threads on this board that allow us to learn from others' mistakes.

The funny thing is, we ALL could have been Big Dave in the past. Common fellas, how many times in the past did we supplicate ourselves to a woman hoping we would "score enough points" to get her to start thinking of us in a different light.

DJB to the rescue.

If I read this thread a year ago, I would have said it was a great thing to do - Wow he got a hug and a kiss? - She must have the hots for him!
Josh, Watch out!

Poor old NoBull... lol

Kourt, did you try advising him? warning him? giving him tips? etc?

nah, hes older than me and we aren't exactly buddy buddy, that and I dont think trying to get him into the dj way in the middle of the bar with all my friends around would be exactly a good idea

If he wanted help, I'd help him, but I guess hes satisfied with his supplication

Granted we all could have done this in the past, but I never was errand runner for chics whew
