"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

The next time I'm at a party I don't know, I'm dropping this line.

Hey! How's it going?
blah.
What you doing here?
blah, you?
Well, everytime I come to a party, I have to meet everyone. Where's yoru friends.

And off I go. I'm running that. I might even do that later on in a club....*gets ideas*..

Social proof isn't important to me because I live in a large City and I rarely ever see the same people twice when I am out on the town, it is much more important if you live in a small town where you see the same people everywhere you go.

Social proof makes things easier.

Say you're going to buy a car. You're in doubt which car you get. Then a friend comes and say X car is amazing! Does not break easily, has great gas mileage and awesome engine power.

You may not hurry to buy the car X, but you surely see it in a new perspective.

If nobody likes you, knows you, or even wants to talk to you, why should she?

If her friends don't like you, why should she like you?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Don't depend on people to make you go into state. Your best bet is to actually go by yourself and start going to parties by yourself whenever you get the chance. You will develop such a stronger inner game that when you do go out with friends it is way easier.

I used to be with friends 24/7, but after awhile I actually went out alone and realized I'm more in state when I'm alone than if I was with my friends. I used to use friends as a serious crutch and I was conscious of it too.

I'm with Snow Plowman, I always wanted friends around. I'm trying to find the courage to go by myself to clubs and parties. It may take me a while.

I've never really gone to a club by myself...but I will on many occassions just go out onto the dance floor and jam. I'm a dancer and just dancing is good drill work for me...gets your nervous system reacting well to the beat, etc. Plus its good cardio!

I find when I do this... I pretty much always have girls approaching me. One time (I was fairly inebriated on a number pharmacoactive compounds) I had a cougar go up my shirt...right in front of her bf/husband from the back....yes she used the "freak from behind" technique on me...amateurs! :D Later that evening I remember high fiving the dude! haha! Same night... I had HB8.0 come up to me and ask me to dance... I find the girls that have the confidence to initiate contact w/ me on the dance floor are generally HOT. Atleast HB7. Even last night, I was out w/ a friend, just wingmanning for him, and I had ample interest from a couple of HB7.5s...He didn't give the "execute" order, so we didn't attempt a pick up, but there was ample eye contact, occassional touching and good proximity. Later that night I had a HB7.0 grab my ass twice in rapid succession, before I called her on it. I have a gf so I wasn't interested.

So...I guess that's a tip for you guys...just go onto the floor and jam by urself...let the chicas come to YOU!
