"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

this girl i have a date with on friday is being stubborn and playing hard to get let me know if you think im right. Last week i cut off communications with her for almost 3 days, then she instant messaged me(i know, stay off that internet stuff). she again the next day instant messaged me again. so finally i decided i can start a conversation with her,i called her asked her on a date(actually took her up on a rain check,i had a emergency in the family when we were supposed to go out last time). she said sure when i asked and i said how bout friday.she said yeah but she has work, she said we should make plans though. well i went to call her tonight(thursday) and she didnt answer so i left a message. no call back. i have noticed when i hung out with her before that she ignores calls often, hell i ever got her to talk about how she filters who calls her by making them leave a message. now am i right in thinking she is playing hard to get?should i text message her friday?any input would be great.thanks for reading this post.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

In this case, I would leave a message saying something like:

Hey, we made plans for friday(today) but I can't seem to get a hold of you. Call me back before 16.00 otherwise I'll assume the date is off and I'll be taking up another offer from a friend, ok?

She isn't playing hard to get. It sounds like she just isn't interested enough in your or has any consideration for you.

She has done you a favor by showing you this major character flaw early in the game. (Don't treat me badly, then expect good treatment in return no matter how long I've known you.)

Don't call, don't email and don't respond to her instant messages. Ignore her, but be polite and courteous if and when you see her again. Personally, I wouldn't loose any sleep over this woman.

You're getting yourself twisted-up over nothing. There are other women out there who do return phone calls. ;)

I agree with this for the most part, however, with some caution. Bottom line is that I think everyone seems to do this at one point or another. If you're out with a hot girl, chances are you're not the only guy who has hit on her or asked her out. She probably has many suitors, meaning many phone calls, that she will undoubtedly not feel like answering all the time. I know that I go through spurts like that where I'm dating more than one girl at a time and I get calls from them all in succession, and I don't always answer because it's draining to always be on the phone. I'd just rather not be, or just be with one girl to avoid the complexity.

True, there are women who return phone calls, but if you're at all high on this list of hers (assuming she's good looking and most likely gets calls all the time from guys) she'd either take your call or call you back pretty soon from my experience. If not, it will be pretty safe to assume that you're pretty low on her list of priorities. My last girl called me EVERYDAY and I never even had to dial her number once, because she'd always call, and this was only more of a dating situation, and not really a serious relationship, although it was verbal that we were only seeing each other, she said I could see other girls if I wanted.

Anyways, that's my take on it.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
