I had to go to Target to buy some ear buds tonight and as I was walking toward the entrance I noticed my pace was hurried, I was staring straight ahead, and thinking only of making my purchase and leaving. My inner voice told me to "slow down" and my next thought was "let the world come to you." As I walked through the door, I paid close attention to each foot step and my breath while observing the world around me. I was walking at a very slow pace and my chin seemed to naturally raise up and a slight smile formed on my face. In the electronics section, I was reading the specs of various earbuds when a woman who looked like a young Sharon Stone (but with freckles) literally walked right up next to me and stood shoulder to shoulder looking at ear buds with me. We made small talk about various items and then I left. I did not have my phone or pen but I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a number. I think I just realized the importance of slowing down and how it allows us to better acknowledge the many different opportunities we are constantly presented with, but may overlook due to a hurried mind or agenda.
