There's this one attractive single mother that comes to our game nights, but she brings her young elementary school-aged child to the events all the time.

I guess she has full custody and not alternating weekends. I think some dues like her, but the kid seems rather hyper...he bores easily and last night, he kept "doing laps" nonsensically around the house and was quite distracting when focusing on games.

I knew of another single mother that did this at a Superbowl party, the ONLY kid at the party. Almost swear these are the helicopter mom types.

If she wanted to bring a man repellent with her, she's succeeded.

Would this be a deal breaker? Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like kids...but the whole "bring your kids to an adult saturated event doesn't seem fair to the kid either.

If she can't tell the kid 'no,' then she's never going to let you, either. That is the ultimate deal-breaker, which is bound to happen, because obviously she can't discipline the kid.

I visited a very authentic Mexican restaurant once, noticed there were two very small children there who belonged to the family who owned it, right as I sat down, and groaned to myself. Oh great...kids. The entire time I was there, those little Mexican kids did not make a sound. They sat and colored in coloring books, not a peep out of them. I get the feeling they had rather strict parents, at least about annoying the customers.
