A person's parenting status typically does not define them as a stereotype applicable to everyone who shares the same status, despite what you read on this forum. Some people tend to take a few negative experiences with the opposite sex then apply negative attributes to every member of the opposite sex ie single mom = bitter/desperate/easy/welfare case/ damaged etc etc.
I have met lots of sour people in my life, and most of them were not single moms.

My brother dated a single mom who he found out missed her son's very first school play to go on a date with him. He didn't feel good about that and thought it was a sh*tty thing to do to her kid. He didn't date her for long because he lost respect for her because of that.
Parents should put their kids first. Anyone dating a single parent shouldn't expect to be that person's priority. If that's what they want, to be another person's priority, then they should not date anyone who has other priorities in life, basically.

Yeah, I can’t see how guys can become a #2 in the relationship. I tried to be open minded but I couldn’t.

I've dated a number of single moms and they're also no BS and generally a lot more responsible than other women their age, especially if in their 30's. Look for ones that have a good relationship with their ex as in a solid co-parenting agreement. This plus a solid relationship with their parents and you've got a golden girl. Who the f*uck cares if her kids are her #1 priority? Good. Takes the heat off of you. She shouldn't be your #1 either.

I did it for a while because the sex was amazing. Thankfully I got out of it unscathed.
Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

For you guys that complain about being "2nd" to her kids......can you provide some examples? I am always happy to be 2nd at times. It gives me freedom, it provides a break, I can do my own thing and not be expected to hang out with her. I see it as a good thing in that regard.

Some guys need more female attention than others, just like some girls need more male attention than others. Guys and girls who are less insecure and genuinely have other stuff going on tend to be less needy.
So in your case, you got other stuff going on so less needy and ideal for women who also have other stuff going on. One compliments the other and you tend to appreciate more and take for granted less
Funny...I have dated many single moms and am currently in a LTR with a single mom a decade younger than I.As you start to get older (I'm 46) single moms are a good option.As @Howiestern said they are busy so they can give you plenty of space.I live over 90 miles from mine and we meet up on the weekends.We rotate one weekend I drive to see her,then the next weekend she drives to see me,this has been going on since Dec of 2016 we have only missed 1 weekend.OP mine is not sour at all there is just sparks in and out of the bedroom.I suggest if you are interested in single moms that you find a high caliber one,one that is not on welfare and one that has a good job and is not clingy that is my idea of a unicorn.

I was a single mom, got married when I was young had a baby got divorced and remarried last year to a guy I've been with for several years.
Just so there's no confusion or assumptions: I have a good education, a good job, good income, and my own condo, which I had before meeting my now husband. Was never on welfare, never easy, and for your info, it's not loose down there

I don't want to come off as shaming men for not wanting to date single moms. It's not everyone's thing. I get that. But as a single mom who wasn't a welfare case with baby daddy drama looking for some sap to take care of us, I get tired of this stereotype of all single moms. Not all single moms are the same.
I had a guy say that if I wasn't a single mom he would date me. I was disppointed but not angry, and I appreciated his honesty. To each their own, but the generalizations are annoying, that's all.
