"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

All my life I've been told that I had a good arm and I won't deny it that I do but football's never really be interesting to me. Of course, my dad has wanted me to go out since I was a freshman (I'm an incoming junior now) and just yesterday an email was sent out to like 20 different people who aren't on the team (but are athletic) that said that there was a new coach this year and encouraged us all to try out. I was included in that email and I'm just wondering, is this some sort of sign  I mean if I do go out, it'll be like one of those 'omg HES going out for football?' type things, and I'm really a person about setting my standard and doing my own thing, and I think if I put myself out there vulnerable it'll show people that I've stopped trying to be myself and started to try to be a jock, and that's the last thing I want to be. I hang out with the jocks, but I never want to be one.

Did you guys go out for football when you were in highschool or are you now? How is it and do you regret not trying out?

I know this seems sort of like one of those crappy high school movies, but I could use your opinions on it.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

If you enjoy playing football, then do it. That´s all there is to say. Quit making things more complicated than they are.

Do it!!!

I've always loved sports...but never played and gotten to hang with the players...if you join...and just have a good time...and show some effort...the guys will let you right in...it's TONS of fun...plus added social value!

This is my first year in football...state, baby!

One thing about doing sports, is that when you are old and have kids, you won't regret telling them the stories of how good at football you are. I mean, this year, my friends convinced me to do track, and I ended up being pretty much the best at my events. You never know, you could get a lot out of doing football. I'm pretty sure the good outweighs the bad

I played football all the way til freshman year in highschool. During the season I broke my leg which put me out for the Winter sports season (wrestling) as well.

As much as I like football, I wouldn't recommend playing it. I'd go for tennis instead.

So many people have screwed their chances at sports in college or just being active in general in their 50s because of football related accidents.

Of course, I'm sort of a hypocrite because I play lacrosse which is also a brutal sport... but hey.

Outtie.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I did it, and our coach is an *******, so i'm not doing it this year. You might as well try it and walk if you dont like it.

Sorry, but you said you have a good arm, which means you will probably want to play qb. The thing about qb though is that the current players have probably been playing for years already and have loads of experience over you, which probably means that even if you make the team, you won't play any.

Now all my friends who did football have a love-hate relationship with it, they love being physical and playing the game but at the end of the season they look back and hate the beating they took.

Play it only if YOU want, not because other people want you to or because you think it will make you popular (which is definitely not always true), that's the only way you will enjoy it and excel in it.

What else you got to do man? Exactly, just go out, you don't need our opinion. If you don't join you're mostly going to just be staying at home afterschool and Friday nights.

I wasn't on the football team, but I was out with friends everyday and at football games/after parties Friday nights.....He should only do it if he truly wants to.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

There's no easier way to get chicks and popular than football.

With that said, there's quiet a lot of losers and virgins on the football team. Is it worth the 95% chance you will have some sort of injury during the year? Up to you. I would play if my parents let me. I love that intensity.

95% chance of injury?

No way! That's EXTREMELY high...unless you define a scraped knee as an injury

Yeah or he could also join the marching band, which plays at all the varsity football games. Lot less painful, but you have to know an instrument.

Join if you you think that would be an amazing part of your life. Dont do it just because chicks dig it. A real man should have his life together well enough, and his priorities clear. If you do something just for chicks, you might end up questioning yourself later, you know, feeling like Metallica after St Anger: Sold out :p

Your choice tho. I decided i did not want any team sport and started TKD, then i had this leg injury and moved to kendo, which is amazing for me.

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

Ok seriously? If you want a sport thats physical, but you're stressed about football. Play lacrosse!

Don't be hatin when I say it's the best sport. Cause it is...

Which leaves Fall open for tennis (or cross country... if you're into that).

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the nation, and if you don't have any teams nearby I feel soo bad for you because really, it's amazing. None of that love/hate relationship there. You actually WANT to dedicate your life to improving because it's so fun.

My opinion stands. Play tennis. If you wanna get bigger... lift after practice. 'Nuff said.

I have never seen a lacrosse match, I do not even know what the sport is like

I've heard of it, but no nothing about it.

BTW tennis sucks i hate it. maybe just because i suck at it. but i can see why people get so passionate about it

Barely heard of lacrosse, and you're in the Bay Area? There's some GOOD lacrosse in Cali let me tell you.

Here's a lacrosse highlight film. First one on Youtube I clicked on.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=B8K3oyo9Tzw

Check about 1:45 through you see a bunch of good hits.

I like it more than football just cause its not exactly SET like football is. Plus there's not really any standing around at all. It's all GO GO GO!

I gotta say Rugby is the best sport besides MMA, mabye even tied. Football cant touch it, and i've never played lacrosse, but it looks interesting, but do MMA or Rugby, youl be satisfied. MMA would be safer if that matters too much, but both are fairly safe sports so yo dont have to worry about getting badly injured or anything. If you have a good arm you may have a nice punch or if your good at passing backwards, your good for rugby.

Hmm... video doesn't make it seem interesting. Maybe it's the bad quality, but it just looks like a bunch of people running around.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
