"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I experienced an "interesting" encounter today.

First off, I thought I could tough out some "24-hour virus" I was having and go to school (I was alright, but it was tough), so this threw off my whole DJ-game a bit, since I was very tired and fell asleep in two of my classes.

Anyway, I'm sitting at lunch (almost fell asleep there too lol) and I realize these two chicks are staring at me. One of them hesitates a little and says
HB 7.5: "Hey TCK...(giggles)...were u watching what I told my friend?
TCK: "umm...no." Why? (I start to become somewhat aware of things since I feel a little less sick).
HB 7.5: ooo, well I told my friend I like you. (smiling)
ME: (realized I'm still definitely out of it - fighting off sleep): ooo, cool!

(10 seconds later)...

ME: (still waaaaay fatigued, but walk up to her) What's up?
HB 7.5: not much, u?
ME: same here. Anyway, you already mentioned u like me  , it looks like we're going to Prom together
HB 7.5: Well actually, I'm going to the prom with a guy from (nearby town).

That was pretty much it. I wasn't going to try and think of a C + F comeback to that since I was about to hit the floor again and enjoy a nap in the middle of the hallway (oddly, I don't think she could definitely tell I was sick/tired). If I was in "normal condition" though, it may have looked more like :nono: :nono: :nono: :trouble: :trouble: :trouble:

Not a big deal though. I used to talk to her a little bit, but haven't talked to her at all lately (maybe once). I never even had this chick in mind when it came to Prom and who to ask. Considering she says she "likes" me, it was worth a shot though. I'm definitely not pursuing a relationship b/c I'm off to college at the end of August.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

No opinions?

As I mentioned before, this wasn't a big deal at all for me - I know this chick a little, but not a lot, and I hadn't even had her in mind when asking for Prom.

Just seems weird when a girl says she likes you, then says she has a date for Prom after I "suggest" we go, since she did say she liked me.

Bad luck with the prom question. If you're interested, get an outting organised. Just another encounter, nothing special here. Not worth posting, I don't think.
