Eat it when your body is going to burn those calories, never before bed. Before bed, you can take in fats that take longer to process... almonds and fish oil. And of course, the casein protein from cottage cheese.......

Good advice I wondered about that myself and happen to have a can of almonds I snack on an hour or so before bed.

Almonds are not bulk like beef. Almonds by all accounts won't be consumed as much as beef. At least I don't consume a can at one sitting maybe a couple hand fulls or so. The beef though I may down 4 to 6 burgers but I don't think it's good to eat a couple hamburgers before bed and let that sit there overnight in my opinion unless your after some serious weight gain then no problem.

But I am still wet behind the ears so maybe I needs some drying out time on these matters :D

Well, now you are getting anal.. 10g of carbs from tomatoes won't kill you. You can have 10-15g of carbs from veggies in a pro/fat meal. Tomatoes are very low GI and have a minimal impact on blood sugar levels (I've never heard of a 'tomato high').

Oh geez I just looked it up and it's 20g carbs in tomato sauce serving but that's an entire CUP for a serving. I'd never eat a whole cup with a bowl of chili. Usually serving sizes are miniscule and i was figuring in 2-3 servings to go with like 8 oz of beef at a time.

I'm going to be eating a lot of chili. I'll miss the kidney beans though. Boo.

That makes sense.

Are you in the states Mr.Ruckus it looks like you would have a better selection on beef numbers but guess it depends on the area one lives but I could be wronger than the word wrong.
I've seen 85/15 before but not at the grocery stores I go to around here. The local walmart is expanding into a super walmart (and i'm thinking of moving to south carolina... good jobs and beach girls ;) ) so chances are they'll have some good stuff.

I have forgotten about a good ol' meat loaf that is a clever way to bring the fat up on top and all you do is pour it in a bowl or bottle and your done.
There's still a bunch left over without squeezing it or scraping it off but i haven't been bothering to do anymore than pour it off.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I started doing this:

Brown in huge pan of 3-4 lbs of 80/20 beef.
Rinse it in sink but I don't try too hard.

Frozen chopped onions
Frozen chopped green peppers
Mild pepper rings from a jar
Can of diced tomatos
Pepper
Chili powder
Garlic powder or chopped garlic from a little jar in the fridge
Mix together whatever amount i feel like. I don't bother measuring.
Let it sit on low in the slow cooker until i feel like taking it off.

Then when i go to eat it (i'm not a fan of eggs too much), i'll sometimes break up 2 hard boiled eggs into the chili. The pepperyness covers up the taste. This way i can get more eggs in my diet and not quite go through the beef as fast. I end up using the chili as seasoning for the eggs :)

I'm not a big fan of cutting things up or measuring. By far the longest is cooking the beef but that's only like 5 minutes.

My goal is really to keep the carbs down as much as I can while still having a quick, easy way to cook and shovel down a lot of beef. I like this a lot more and it's not as dry as the meatloaf i was making before.

I'm thinking of mixing in ground turkey and ground pork sometimes too. It just depends on what is on sale when i need to buy meat.
