It seems to be mentioned a lot on this site but I can't find a post spelling out where it is. I'm back in college and now have free access to a gym so I have no reason not to start work.

I was wondering if getting a personal trainer would be a good idea. I've never dealt with weightlifting and am a bit unsure of how things work.

Yeah getting one with a respectable background in bodybuilding/powerlifting is your best bet. Nothing can replace a good mentor.
