Read this interesting article about women are now preferring the macho man instead of the metrosexual man.

Which is defined as:

“The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis – because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modeling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sport, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere.”

A prime example of a metrosexual man is David Beckham.

They recon the reason is due to the economical meltdown and they now prefer a man who is able to work with his hands and will protect them when the sh!t hits the fan.

About time I say, men are supposed to be muscular and hairy, maybe the wheel is turning after all.

gotta stay true to your roots.

my grandpa was yugoslavian and my grandma was austrian. my grandpa had the balls to immigrate the family from a war-torn europe to the US.. back home they had a farm where my dad was raised. needless to say, all the men on our side of the family were laborers, contractors, farmers, mechanics and the like. working hard and providing for your wife.

needless to say, being a mix of austrian and yugoslavian god decided that i needed to be somewhat hairy. obviously i groom myself but even though some of my friends would ridicule me for it, i cant stand the thought of shaving off my chest hair.. even tho most other guys nowadays do.

and you know what? most of the girls ive had, usually right after having sex, secretly confide how sexy they think it is that i have chest hair and a treasure trail, etc.

and id just lay there and think... well, duh. im a guy. at least where im from, men are supposed to have hair on their chest. but obviously nowadays, a lot of guys shave their chest, arms, even pits and legs.

i think a lot of things, including the metrosexual man are a result of the media. the byproduct of todays mtv, vh1, etc. but deep down, a feminine woman wants a masculine man to protect and provide for her. those natural urges still havent changed. even if they SAY otherwise.

I live in a "metropolitan area".

I own salt water fishing equipment.

I use wax in my hair.

I watch MMA fights.

I know how to match colors, etc. for decorating.

I decorated my place in a "medieval meets pimp" motif.

I own a dozen different colognes.

I am competitive in a business environment.

I have a wine rack.

I love beer, especially the stuff that's bitter as hell with a high alcohol content.

I have been known to "do" brunch.

I have been known to "do" multiple chicks I go to brunch with.

Am I-

a) gay,
b) metrosexual,
c) or do I just not give a flying fukk what anyone thinks?

You don't have to wear jeans and a t-shirt every day and drool over football games for hours every week to be seen as a masculine man.

I'm with Str8up on this one. And I have hair on my chest and muscles on my arms. Yet I dress nicely, keep my hair styled, I'm very involved in the arts and I'm masculine and 100% hetero. You can't trust everything you read, women don't really prefer "macho" men, they prefer "masculine" men. Macho guys are also insecure wimps who cry and beg when their woman says she's dumping them. Macho guys are insecure wimps who have temper tantrums and fits of jealousy and turn into control freaks because of their insecurities. It's because of their weaknesses that they act macho. Masculine men aren't like that. The article's writer must not know one term from the other.

Some of the most "macho" guys I know definitely use that to hide the fact that they're wimps, I agree with that.

It's funny that I, who is not so macho yet masculine, have not cried in front of any male friend since I was probably 5 years old. But more than a few "macho" friends have mine have.

When these guys sit around and talk about how tough they are, and act like bullies, I think it's a joke and it makes me feel sorry for them. These are the same guys who ironically admit to reflecting on their behaviors, too. I bite my tongue, I choose my battles, and I don't really care to "help" someone who has no real inclination to change (for the better).

I think what we're missing in this thread is the definition of true masculinity.

This kind of crap just feeds into the female desire to go after what's en vogue. Media outlets think they are the arbiters of what kind of men are desirable, in addition to handbags, perfumes, clothing, and sunglasses.

It also feeds into the AFC's penchant to change himself based on whatever it is females say they are finding attractive at the moment. If you're a DJ you already know that what a female SAYS she finds attractive in a man is usually not worth listening to.

Which is why this whole outer game PUA fad is a crock of ****. Everywhere you look you are seeing more and more talk about "spitting game" and being an ******* to keep the girls. Its just trading the Ray Romano for the 50 Cent when the little guy inside feels like a eunuch.

While I am glad that men are starting to find their balls again many have totally missed the point. I hate to see what society is slowly morphing into. Everyone is an actor these days eh?

Last year I was doing group fitness training with some sports teams. I remember this one big guy, very macho in both looks (built like a brick sh!thouse) and attitude. He was loud, you could hear him from the other side of the court. One night, just after training, he was hanging out with his mates, talking big & all that when his phone rang. He walked over to the other side of the court to take the call, near where I was, and started talking in one of the most memorable meeeooowww - f'choooo - I mean pvssywhipped - voices I've ever heard, being a great contrast to his usual macho booming voice.

Yeah it was his GF calling him.

I'm nicely hairy from head to toe. Not too excessive, not too little..just right. I guess that's the Italian/Russian/Turkish in me. I used to shave my chest hair, pits, and pubes yrs ago, but would never do it again. I've come to appreciate my body hair.

My ex used to tell me how she hated chest hair, but still chose me. And it wasn't a case of her settling for me, as she was porn material who could've had any guy she wanted. I used to wear a lot of open button down, sleek shirts with my chest hair showing(that's how I looked when she first saw me). I still do, but not as much. Gee, looks seem to play an important role with women.

The article was in a newspaper - no links, but it did originate from USA. The metrosexual "men" illustrated were pigeon chested skinny boys. The "macho" men were masculine men, muscular and hairy chested.

I dont believe in shaving chest hairs - but that's me. Old fashioned what ever.
The point is that women prefer a masculine man, especially in these troubled times, over a wimp.

I think that being either the metrosexual or the macho guy are two extremes, and quite frankly, I think it's unhealthy for your pick up life if you identify too much with either one. For me, I consider myself a mix between the two, I dres neat and take care of myself but on the same token too, Im not just some skinny ***** metrosexual. I do work out at the gym and would consider myself relatively husky.

Why settle for either the macho man or the metrosexual when you can have the best of both world's?
