When I hear this situation, all I hear is BAGGAGE...

- her family won't let her do sh1t
- by moving in with him her family will disown her
- and to fix this fvcking mess (or maybe in any case...) she wants him to convert...

- in principle by the girl even seeing him is causing distance between her and her family

fvcks sake, he doesn't need all this bullsh1t. This relationship is and will continue to cause problems for him.

If I was him I'd just end it....unneeded drama and requests that he CANNOT bend to. If she loved him enough to move in with him, she should love him enough to love him with his current religion.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

In the last decade religious, ethnic and cultural differences have become highly contested issues in many European countries. Particularly, the presence of Islam as a “migrating” religion has been on the political and academic agenda for some time now. Conflicts have evolved around issues such as wearing Muslim headscarves in public institutions (Göle 2002; Berghahn 2004), building mosques and minarets in European town centers and so called traditional violence against women, as for example female circumcision and arranged or forced marriage (Phillips 2007). Some of these conflicting issues did not only trigger heated debates but also have been leading to a wide range of policy action across European countries as for instance bans of headscarves in public institutions (France, Turkey, Germany) (Saharso 2003), changes of laws for abroad marriage (Denmark, UK), amendments of penal laws to punish genital cutting (Austria, Germany) and municipal norms of the length of minarets.

If I were your friend I would ask the father of my GF the following question:

"Let´s imagine you are in my age and you love a Christian girl like I love your daughter. Would you convert for her?"

But to tell the truth I don´t think that this relationship has a future. I wouldn´t like to have a GF who loves her culture and her family more than me.

My impression is that your friend belongs to a branch of Christianity that takes the Bible rather literally? Many members of my family are in Christian-Atheist marriages, which isn't that big of a deal depending on what kind of Christian you are. As for Islam, I'm unsure of the rules regarding marriage.
