After just ending my relationship, I can't help to think back to the days where Disney always taught us to chase after "the one" and find a relationship and you will be "happy".
I now realize Disney and main stream media are. so. damn. wrong.
When I first got into an exclusive relationship I was already happy being on my own before heading into it, so that was a plus. I thought, in the beginning, that being in this relationship would enhance my happiness, and it did for a little bit, but not much. I got happier when I got a good grade in a class or gained more muscle, than being in this relationship, you want to know why? It is because those things are concrete to ME, a relationship is not concrete and does not improve you, but it does have the ability to ruin you if you end up being that guy who turns into a complete beta (for lack of a better word) once the relationship commences.
So I write to my brothers on SS, a single man, and how do I feel? Well according to all the latest magazines I should feel like sh1t and want to die, eat icecream, get fat etc. How do I actually feel?
Fvcking great.
Honestly, I feel like I did right before the relationship, just back to my old self and simply just keep chugging on the road of improvement.
So I must tell you, for the guys out there who think having girls or a relationship will make you happier, don't kid yourselves, it wont. You are truly happy only when you can be happy with just the company of yourself.
Women, money, cars, toys, etc just enhance that self happiness.
Working towards a goal and improving yourself, being something that is concrete, will make you a hundred times more happy than any woman or material object ever will.
Don't fall for the BS of the relationship, it is not a means of happiness.
