It could be form of testing, like you said. I've been on the receiving end of this, but from a guy. They want you to reaffirm your interest in them by keeping the conversation going even though they have stopped responding, to prove how much you like them. That or it makes them feel important to keep you hanging. Not nice at all...

You would go to jail if you laid a finger on them. The system is ****ed up.

It's completely unfair and women take advantage of it every day. They don't see a need to respect men because why do they have to. Our society is seriously ****ed up in that way. They see nothing wrong with acting like a manipulative **** to every guy they see. That is okay in their minds.

They stop mid conversation because they have nothing more of value to add to the conversation. This is often true even when they respond.
