The Contender

I just saw the first episode. While I enjoyed it a lot, I was surprised that Alphoso beat Peter. Personally, I thought he was going to get his head handed to him after seeing him take that beating in the second round. For those on this board who know a little more about boxing, what do y'all think?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Alfonso had a better mindset going into the fight. You can see his confidence throughout the show.

Peter was kind of doubting himself when he spoke with his wife the night before.

There is a difference between an official boxing match and this.

There are 12 rounds in the official boxing match and therefore there is a different kind of mindset and strategy that is applied which will be different then "The Contender" 5 rounds match. These boxers are not used to fight such a short match and therefore they had to adopt to a different strategy.

I saw the fight as well and they were even up until the 5th round when Alphonso beat Peter. I do believe that Peter being the better fighter, more experienced fighter and a stronger fighter would have beaten Alphonso in an official 12 round bout.

Havent seen it.

12 rounds are only fought when a title is at stake.

Other than that, it starts at 4 rounders, goes to 6, 8, 10 then 12 rounds (when fought for a championship). Thus, these fighters, as inexperienced as they are, would not be fighting 12 rounds antime soon in the professional ranks.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

But that's the personality you need to have in life. Because if YOU don't believe in yourself then nobody is either!;)

Watched it last night, Alphonso wins again. I am really impressed by him. While a lot of the other fighters seem to be a lot more physical, he seems to have a lot more skill in the ring.
