My take is you just bounce on her without saying a word and don't contact her again for as long as she needs to reach out to you. And then make her work pretty damn hard to make things right.

She knows what did was wrong. Nothing needs to be said. Always choose your self-respect and dignity when a woman forces you to a make a choice between her and it.

The bigger point is a woman only does this stuff when she already has low respect for you, so his actions during the time they have been dating have likely lowered it significantly and this is the result of it.

For more minor things, I would recommend checking it immediately. For something like this, you are already too far gone for her to even care. At this point you have to be willing to completely lose her to have any chance of regaining her respect, IMO.

Nonetheless the likelihood of this particular instance being "a real life situation" is weaker John Edwards's political career enjoying a resurrection anytime soon

I agree with you. Unfortunately, I found myself in a situation not too dissimilar last year and walked away. That sort of behaviour is a gross lack of respect and you should not put up with it, effectively it's public humiliation. Without respect you don't have a relationship.
