To play devil's advocate, pretty much anyone can be in an unflattering pic and look far worse than they do in real life. The reverse works as well. I'm sure some of you guys have ran into a few SIF's (secret internet fatties).

Wow, I can't believe that's Britney Spears. I'd give her a 4. Her neckline is almost gone. I think white women have it hardest later in life. I mean I've seen attractive 40+ yrs old. However, when I stand next to them I can see all their wrinkles and blemishes on their skin. Especially in the chest area.

I am surprised by people that get surprised by product placement, PR, and photoshoped celebrities. Yes, they all look like normal people when not on TV, fat and ugly.
If a skilled photographer takes a picture of you while you not posing you'll look like a piece of **** as well.
There is a whole industry for dirty poopers out there, all they do is dig some dirt, make it up, photoshop it, and get attention with it. Most recent is the yellow media's poopage on Olympics in Sochi, which backfired on them all, Putin's popularity is higher than ever.
