"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

for those of you who can't seem to get up and take action towards your goals and ideals, here's a little tip.

quit dreaming and start doing.

i used to just sit around and dream about what i could be and how i could be, instead of taking action. i mean, don't get me wrong. dreaming is a good thing, because it's a good way of reminding yourself that there's always room for improvement no matter what. the bad thing is...not many people AT ALL actually do something about their dreams. everytime i see pictures of body builders, i tend to get jealous and tell myself that i, one day, will look just like that. the sad thing is...i post-pone that goal so much that i might as well just not start. there are lots of things that i've always wanted to do, but just never did because i spent too much time day-dreaming and giving myself confidence rather than actually improving myself.

so whenever you're in that situation...when you suddenly have the urge to try something new or you feel that small ounce of motivation flowing through you, start ASAP. don't wait until you're ready, do it NOW. don't sit there and daydream (too much). that'll get you nowhere.

so get up and do something RIGHT NOW, you lazy bastard.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

You can either go out and fight for yours like a real man, or you can fight for yours for the first 4 rounds and sit on your ass in the 6th.

Alright, you convinced me. I'm going to go take a shower, get something nice on, and go find some girls. If I don't find any girls (because I probably wont, not in this town), at least I'll smell nice. Thanks for the inspiration.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

This post reminds me of lyrics from an Aesop Rock song:

"Look, I've never had a dream in my life
Because a dream is what you wanna do but still haven't pursued
I knew what I wanted and did it 'til it was done
So I've been the dream I've wanted to be since day one"

Very true.
