Hey guys I'm a basketball player, and I was wondering what is the best way to increase my vertical jump? I heard ankle weights could damage your knees, so I'm basically looking for exercises w/o the use of ankle weights.
work your calves a lot! My friend who was like the best high school basketball player in the state and was like ranked 15 nationally....told me that what he does is just plain works his calves a lot...and basically does many repetitions of jumping.
I went to my friend's dad's Basketball Boot Camp twice and he had us do the same ****...and my vertical got better. It's a lot simpler than most people think it is.
In case any of you guys wann know who the dude I'm talking about is...Ronnie Brewer-he's gonna play for the Arkansas Razorbacks....and his dad Ron Brewer played for the Trailblazers and Cavaliers
Yeah, Squats are definately good to do to Increase your Jump height. Think about it, when you jump do you jump with your calves or your whole lower body? Just working the calves only works the calves. And doing squats works almost the entire body AND works it in the same direction as jumping. Squats are even better for training jumping if you do Jump squats or just when you push up, do it as hard and fast as you can to work the fast twitch muscle fibers.
