Questions about girls

Hey first I'd like to thank all the poster here on this site for contributing, it has really changed my life and made me into a whole new person.
However, I still have some lingering questions...
First off, I'm a high school senior and I think I have mastered the whole thing about attraction. Not sure how I would rate myself but I'd say very above average in looks. And this site has taught me how to recognize if a girl might like you- I see that in a lot of girls that i encounter at school.

Today, I asked a girl out to a dance and it went something along...
AlphaNoob: Hey excuse me your name is HB9 right? Would you mind if have a few words with you? So I've been noticing you and i find you very attractive. Do you-
HB9: Wait are you asking me out to the dance?
AlphaNoob: Yes, would you go with me?
HB9: Sorry i already have a date.
HB9: Sorry sorry sorry....
AlphaNoob: It's ok

Before this, I didn't know the girl at all and she had a smile on her face afterwards(prolly bc i just stroked her ego?)

So how do i tell if she interested with that smile? Is it a "lol this idiot just asked me out" or "dam he's so cute" kind of smile

Also whenever i ask a girl out i enter the flight or fight response thing were i can't really focus and i dont really feel conscious of my actions. All i know is that i just do what i intended to do and i am not able to be cunning to think of a response. Why does that happen?

Last question now that i have almost every girl noticing me, where do i go from here?

She could have been flattered. If she was smiling and making eye contact before then she might have genuine interest. Your approach was good but it sounded a bit interviewy.

I commend you on approaching and asking her to the dance! Leave it alone now! If you don't keep begging and pursuing you will demonstrate you have options, are busy, and you don't care that she turned you down. She may also yap away to her other friends on how cool and ballsy you were to ask, get refused, and be cool and walk away. It'll be great for your social proof. It'll get easier, no one is gonna kill you, and you just ask another girl. Simple.
