Have any of yall heard of the Gavin Mccines organization called the proud boys? Basically it's a group where it's men who meet to discuss ideas of conservatism and fraternize. I was thinking about finding a chapter near me in Texas if nothing else but to meet some like minded men. There's a whole tongue in cheek initiation process.

Recently theyve been in the news for getting in a scuffle with Antifa. Not sure on all the details but I don't blame anyone for fighting antifa. I would relish that lol.

If you need a family. Sure go in.

He's Canadian, so watchout about pot! (And studied in Montreal at my alma matter of all places!)... Damn his French conversion!

He made Vice, a right-wing "TMZ" magazine.

It's a cult, but if you need friends and support and they are aligned with you. Go ahead. (Why a cult? 4 degrees of acceptance, need of commun bélief, follow leader)

We all need a community.

They just started a brawl in NYC a few days ago. IMHO, it's always best to stay neutral in the public eye unless you are running for office. Antifa is screwed up and the proud boys are prob. just as screwed up too. Who names these groups by the way? They both sound awfully feminine. Proud men would be a better play on words. Antifa, well, hmm, freeloader brigade sounds better.

Sounds like an 80s British pop band...

I could see hanging out and discussing ideas, philosophy, sports, etc. Once it starts veering into "let's protest" or "let's fight so-and-so," count me out. As Bill Burr said, "who joins a group?!"

Tangent - groups of opposing views should play softball to settle scores like the rest of us God-fearing Americans. I remember once when Superman brought two opposing generals to duke it out and they were too big of pu$$ies to do it. Every time there's a scuffle/battle/war we should do this - game of choice. Most rabble-rousers are probably too uncoordinated for air hockey.

I have seen their name pop up as a new neo fascist hate group. Whether that is accurate or not, I am sure they will garner some attention from the Feds. When you meet a new buddy in the organization who is eager to talk about illegal activity, there is a chance he is an undercover Federal agent. You dont have to actually do anything illegal to go to jail, merely talking about it is the crime of conspiracy. There is a guy who graduated from my law school who got life for conspiracy to murder a judge. All he said to the informant was "I dont want to...but if you should....you know." I read the court transcript and that is the exact wording. The Feds had him picked out as someone they wanted to put in jail, and if they want you in jail, they are going to find a way.

Recently theyve been in the news for getting in a scuffle with Antifa. Not sure on all the details but I don't blame anyone for fighting antifa. I would relish that lol.
Gavin Mccines was scheduled to give a speech that night, which he did. Some of that speech involved a play of sorts, in which some of the Proud Boys were participants. It was also known before hand that Antifa was going to show up to protest. Mccines had the police there for the purpose of protection. Antifa members were there instigating things for hours. After the speech, when Mccines and the Proud Boys were leaving, one of the Antifa guys bypassed the police to grab a MAGA hat off of one of the Proud Boys and took off running with it.

That 2 minutes of video showing the Antifa guys getting their asses beat down was the only thing that made its rounds in the media. So of course, it's going to look like these guys are extremists who just go around looking for Antifa guys to beat on. They didn't report on the hours of instigation, prodding and teasing by Antifa beforehand.

The basic thing behind the Proud Boys is to be unapologetically male in the face of feminism, toxic masculinity, political correctness, etc. It is easy to paint all of that as cult-like, extremism from a more progressive point of view (especially given that Mccines is the type of guy to say that women would be happier at home in the kitchen vs. the workforce).

From what I know, it is no more of an extreme fraternity than the kinds of things discussed collectively by members here at SS, the only difference being that their focus is not on picking up women, but is more about conservatism/politics in nature.

Was this the speech to the Republican club where he came out waving a katana?

Was the play about this guy?

That guy was like the Bernie Sanders of Japan, and he got stabbed to death on camera. The proud boys, from what I hear, idolize the murderer because he killed a socialist.

Yep. Whatever you do, don't get negative attention. There are enough felonies on the books the average citizen commits a few every day.

The KGB would just round up people only by word of mouth, torture them, get more names, and keep the party going.

Feds do pretty much the same thing, only it's legal and takes a little bit more time.

If they want to get you, they'er going to get you.

Constitutional rights are just marketing for the man.

Yes. The katana was a toy prop.

Yes. It was in vanity.

I don't know if they idolize the guy, but Mccines has been known to say a lot of controversial things, so it's possible something like that might have been said at some point. But Mccines makes his living in media. He's like a conservative version of a "shock jock"; Howard Stern, Opie & Anthony, etc.

I'm not a jew, either, but I still don't want to see maniac Trumpers gunning them down in synagogue.

Supporting your politics with the fear of violence is a key part of fascism. So is nationalism. So is this "manly man club" routine like the proud boys. The stuff about gender inequality for men is just bait to trick you into joining. Fascists dont call themselves fascists. That isn't good marketing. They want to make you think you are standing up for your gender, your country, and most importantly, your race.

Dude I'm usually so behind your posts and such but you are flat out wrong on this one. Do your research. The rabid "Trump supporter" who gunned down jews in a synagogue was not a Trump supporter. He had posts on Gab denouncing his support for Trump and stated he did not vote for him because of his support for Isreal and Ivanka & her husband being Jewish.

How did you come to the conclusion that Trump is anti-judaism? He supports Isreal WAY more than Obama and has jewish people in his family and all around him.

The proud boys acted in self defense. Do your research, again. anifa must be "fascist" then because they're left wing loons who promote and actively participate in violent practice.

You're on sosuave and act like women don't have more privilege than men... have you gone blue pill? You must still be living in Disney World. Cmon cousin.

Trump isn't anti semitic. He loves money, and they have it, good enough for him. It is the neo nazis who follow Trump who hate the Jews. And it doesn't help when he calls those nazis "good people."

Trump was just recently in my town. It was basically a big white supremacist rally. It's funny, all vendors were pre arranged by the white house, and not a single one of them was white. There were also a few obvious plants in the crowd. Hillary isn't the only one with the trick of paying her attendees. Trump has to hire a few uncle toms so that his event looks a little less like a klan rally.

There were a few proud boys there, mixed in with the other white supremacists. The local paper had a few pics with a caption identitying them as a hate group. You ought to know the type of people with whom you associate. Their little "movement" is about a lot more than being uber masculine manly men.

And do women have more privilege than men? I think they just have different privileges. I do know that the more a guy is obsessed with that idea, the more of a miserable assh0le he is. Happy people are not obsessed with that which they cannot change. Happy are also not neo nazis. That's part of being a hate group. They have to make you hate somebody to get you to join.

Somewhere where's it's none of your business
Both Antifa and Proud Boys are on different sides of the same coin - ideologies borne from insecurity and violence.

Unfortunately, violent extremism is not going to disappear but let's keep it in perspective.

What's with this lefty thing of calling any oppoposition ""nazis""? Gavin Mccinnes is no nazi. As far as i know, he came through the punk scene writing an underground magazine. Punk rock just now happens to be more right wing in it's inclination, because the left are establishment now - ironically everything they claim they are not.

My family fought against Hitler, and part of my blood race suffered the holocaust with the Jews (arguably a bigger genocide than the jews even), and i agree with a lot of his views.

Seriously 99.9% of the time something gets labelled "neo nazi" or "racist", it just isn't. Can only play that card so much, and it lost it's value around 10 years back. Our version of the liberals have lost every cultural debate since lol.

Shooting up synagogues and sending pipe bombs to (mostly black and Jewish) Democratic politicians was just a coincidence, huh?

My town just had a Trump rally. I have never seen such a climate of fear over politics. I know a lot of people who hate Trump, but they are literally scared for their safety to voice any criticism. I had a few Trump Baby balloons, and the people who wanted one told me they would never take it out in public, because they thought they would get beaten up...over a balloon.

Political violence and a climate of fear...just like the Nazis, but hey that is just another unfortunate coincidence, right?
