You are likely correct. But just to play devils advocate, I don't dress well and don't have the best social skills, I've been with hot girls. My friends cousin has terrible hygiene he has got a hot blonde. My other friend is over weight he has a hot girl too.

Good Height
Good Hair
Good Job

He can get a decent girl. In my never to be humble opinion, girls will take a 6'1 guy over a guy who can dress well but is short.

not even good job, serious most guys want the good woman right on the first try, so they tend to ignore and not learn what they can do even with trashy woman, and some woman you will not know how trash she is till you are with her for sometime, but in the end the main issue is lack of confidence, that little background thinking of "I don't deserve her", or "she is too good for me", most guys with female problem have a huge confidence problem, and that is the nail and coffin of anything you need to do.

i'm not that against hookers, hell maybe they are more honest then most woman out there, but you really should try to adapt to one, I think it can be used as a buffer for a really dry season, to get you going back tot he right mind, or just to make sex less "marvelous" or "special" in your mind.
in the end remember, the diference between a hooker and the normal girl is, the hooker is cheaper
