Recently, I have noticed the forum has been overpopulated with new members creating accounts simply to post anything without proper filtering. I am referring to thread such as this and recently this post. All created as a first post. Pruning through these threads can take a toll on moderators. As a result, I am proposing a system where new signees are prevented from creating NEW threads until after certain time period or after posting certain number of comments.

This proposal will not only minimize such eventualities of worthless posts but also allow new signees to read through other posts and perhaps do searches rather wanting a "quick fix" to their problems.

This is just an idea. We need to keep the forum clean.

I would agree with this. It would weed out the trouble makers for sure. I'd say go so far not allowing a new member to post for 7 days, and not allowing a new thread to be started for 14 days. They would lose interest I believe.

I've been on another forum where they required the poster to post reply to a certain amount of threads before being allowed to post. That could be another idea? I mean it would make a user have to actively contribute as opposed to lurking not to mention some people may have the patience to wait out the waiting period to post their what nots.

Although I recognize the problem you mention.....I dont like the solutions you have presented.

1. Certain number of posts before able to create a thread - what would prevent people from just posting one letter responses on threads just in order to get their reply count up so that they can make threads? Im not interested in ruining good topics because a new member is trying to get his posts up. This rule would be assuming that new members either A) have something to contribute to an ongoing discussion and B) Will post something of worth and not just random letters and numbers in order to fulfill the post requirment

2. New members cannot make new threads for 14 days and/or post for 7 days - How would this actually aid new members? I like the fact that newbies want to come and get right into things......but they ARE GOING to have questions. I think this rule could do more harm than good and actually make new people lose interest because they cannot contribute and ask questions right off the bat.

I think the mods have done a pretty good job to mop up the spam posters actually. In my eyes this remains the best solution to the problem. Im sure its hard work.....but remember.....it was their choice to be a mod.

This proposal will not only minimize such eventualities of worthless posts but also allow new signees to close their browser, log on to youporn.com, jerk off 100 times, get drunk and call Jennifer asking for forgiveness because of her period.
