"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I've come to realize lately that I could use some help.

I've had some experiences in my past that were life-threatening, job related, that I can't shake. It's been over a year since I've had these experiences, however, they are still "lingering" you could say.

I was just wondering if any of you all on the mature forum might have had some experience with posttraumatic stress. I've been doing a lot of research online, unfortunately I can't talk to any professional about it (it will be on my record).

I was just wondering if any of you might know about this, or have experienced it, that I could PM. It's not a big deal, just a hurdle I'd like to jump over, but unfortunately I don't know anyone who could even possibly relate.

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Could you elaborate?

Or do you not feel comfortable?

I know I had a really bad year last year, and am still dealing with it. So whatever anyone says to you, I could possibly learn something as well.

Thanks Iqqi, it's really not that big of a deal, it's just past experiences I've had. For a short period of time, I worked in a high-crime area. I had some life-theatening experiences, and have seen things that most people do not see. This was over a year ago.

Occasionally, fortunately rarely, something will trigger this and it's almost like I'll seem to just get lost in thought and relive some of these things. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's pretty obvious.

It's not a problem, just something I've realize isn't normal.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I wish you could speak to my dad, retired NYC Police Officer. He's seen and dealt with some f*cked up sh*t. It sounds like, if I'm reading you correctly, it has something to do with being "on the job" in the P.D.

If I personally could help, I would.

OK, well back to your original question, as I see you aren't asking for advice, sounds like you are just needing someone to talk to, I think there are quite a few of us that have been through traumatic things and seen some really bad stuff. <raises hand>

You can talk to me if you want to, none of my experiences were on the job, but growing up I've been through and seen some nightmarish stuff. Also, Fingz would be a great person to talk to, (and I am pretty sure he is always cool with a PM shot at him), as he has been through some real tragedies that helped shape him into the great Senor we know today.

I know of one or two other posters that will probably chime in soon, as they've mentioned some traumatizing incidents.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Mr. Positive................... I too am experiencing some post traumatic stress at the moment due to my recent brush with death. Pandora's Box of fears, emotions and anxieties have reared their ugly heads. It is getting better through patience, persistance and soul searching and is slowly easing. I have faith that it will get better.

You're a great guy and your posts have helped me a lot. If I can help in any way feel free to PM me or post some questions here. I wish you the best. Cheers!

Mr. Positive,

I went through something very traumatic about 4 years ago. I've never experienced anything like it. It changed my life forever, it will never be the same. However for a year or two, I thought my life was over. I lost all my will to do anything positive.

I even made a career change. I really had no clue how I was going to get past it, it consumed my life even though it was long over, I couldn't shake the PTS. It completely clouded my thinking, it overtook my mind.

There is no magic solution. No red pill that can make everything better. The only thing that pulled me through EVENTUALLY was my mind & the drive to succeed that has always been there. If I wasn't a strong person before it happened, I would have been stuck there for the rest of my life (I think).

After a while, it was still lingering over my head but slowly it stopped being black, was only foggy. Then I had to make changes in my life to live healthier so that I could remember the light that use to be in my life. It was a long process. I think the best thing you got going for you is your desire to move on. You just have to fight through it. Deal with your feelings from the incident(s) in question. Don't bury them, this is essential to moving on. However don't dwell on them negatively either. Reflect upon what happened, be happy for what you have, learn from it and live your life accordingly.

Like others have said, if you don't feel comfortable chattin in public, you can PM me as well. However at the end of the day, its all got to come from you. I can help point you in the right direction if you like though.

Go back to the basics, go back to your roots or sometimes you might have to do the opposite and get away from your roots. However running from your problems is not the solution.

However at the end of the day, the old cliche is true, what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger. Now I don't consider myself a stronger person, however I learnt a lot and I like to think I won't let life kick me down & keep me there as long again when it gets rough, but it forced me to learn alot of different skills that I NEVER would have, had I not experienced what I did. As a result of that, I'm much more complete of a man now.

Tale a look into this.

Remember, the body ,not just the brain, also stores memories.

This electrical charge or current of a memory can get ''stuck" and trapped in our bodies.

This is why sometime syou can get ove rit mentally, but something always lingers in the back..it's our neurology. the way our Bodies perceived the event.

It si not just in your head.

It is also in your body.

You need to address it too.

Good luck.

Thanks MacAvoy, great post and exactly what I needed to hear.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Post- traumatic Stress...

I have been VASOLINED harder than most. I have taken LIFE and f*cked it right back in the A**.

I have been there before. I can tell you this my friend. When it is your time to shine again; stick your c*ck so far up life's ass, life's ancestors will tremble. This will be your ultimate victory.
