Have you read A Random Walk Down Wall Street? It makes the case for S&P 500 investing using decades of stock market performance. If you have no foundation in investing, you need to get one. I'd suggest reading that book.

Would not even consider this until you are well into seven figures or 35x+ your annual living expenses if you are young.
