Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I usually hang out in near St Marks or W 4th St.

2 faves of mine are 13th Step (early drinking, chilling, beer pong) and then go by the Dark Room. Very dark lighting, good mix of types of people, decent music but VERY loud.

These arent the best, but you said you arent a big spender. So Id do 13th step to start and then Dark Room or somewhere else after. And yo, youre never too old to pregame if you wanna save cash. If your buddy has a place nearby, drink there and then leave. Or you can do what I used to do a lot when I was younger (and sometimes still do with certain friends). Hit up the liquor store across the street from Union Square. Get a bottle, and chill in the park for a little bit, maybe make friends with other people chilling, and then hit the bar once youve enjoy that little bottle lol.

And given who your wingman is, I think the spots I mentioned are decent spots. 13th Step is almost like a college bar. Most folks are 21 - 28...and theres beer pong and stuff. Lots of cute girls. You can usually meet someone there and then ask if they wanna hit up another nearby spot. The Dark Room though is a tad awkward since the lighting isnt the best.

If you want less loud music, and a little bit more laid back and spacious, you can check out McSorleys or Pianos. Id put them a tier above the other two.

Or this. Really though. There are soooooo many bars and venues in downtown manhattan that you can literally bar hop all night and have a great time. Definitely check out the Bowery area tho.

Like Vlad said. Just walk around and youll see something you like. Or you can stop cute girls on the street, say "Im not from around here...my buddy and I cant decide on a great place to dance and have a couple drinks? Suggestions?" and youll find a good place that way.

To warm up,

Bar None
98 3rd Ave (btwn E. 12th & E. 13th)
http://www.barnonenyc.com/

Crowd:

Young chicks in their early to mid 20's, mostly white. Maybe popping tonight because St. John's University commencement was today and NYU's and Columbia's commencement are next this week. Bar None is just a few blocks from NYU and from the Bowery Bar.

Average Hot Babe Rating: 6.5-7.5

Bar None is a mid sized space with seating to the back of the bar, (which will be to your left when you go in and the bar is to the right.) The dance floor is in the back of the with booths on the left and right to the dance floor. Get there between 11:30-12:30. No cover charge.

Bowery Bar
40 E. 4th Ave @ Bowery

Crowd

Professional women in their mid 20's, mostly white. Bowery Bar maybe popping tonight because St. John's University commencement was today. Also, NYU's and Columbia's commencement are next this week. The Bowery Bar is just a few blocks from away from Bar None and NYU and there is no cover charge.

Average Hot Babe Rating: 7, 7.5

The Bowery Bar is a large space that includes a bar, a restaurant, and an outside courtyard. You will want to go to The Bowery Bar after you've warmed up at Bar None. Since the space is so big, you meet a chick at the bar, (for example,) then bounce her to the restaurant or the courtyard for more rapport building.

Dress Code

I don't think there is a dress code, but I did see some cats in jeans and sneakers when I was there last (which was about a six weeks ago,) however just to cover yourself, I'd advise wearing dress shoes and a button up. If you REALLY want to floss, throw your blazer or sports jacket on.

Then there are various bars on 2nd Ave between Houston St and E. 14th Street.

I was going to post 13th step as a joke lol. But seriously i think its an alright bar only thing is it can be a really young crowd, although ive taken home about 3 girls from there lol It can get crowded and roudy with the college dudes spilling beer everywhere. I'd say try a bar a block down called the Central Bar, Ive found girls a little older there and it isnt that expensive. First floor is a bar type setting and upstairs is Dancing with Bar.
