"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I'd like to poll everybody here out of curiousity, and ask what your motivation is in terms of picking up women. There seem to be a lot of people here looking for advice on meeting and attracting women so that they can find an ideal partner, somebody to hang out with and have sex with, and be a couple. Then there seems to be another crowd concerned more with simply picking up one woman after another. Whether they actually call themselves pick up artists or not, this type seems to be interested in going out to bars/clubs and bringing women back to f***.

I'm not really interested in hot women - I see hotness as basically a requirement, but for me to be interested in somebody, they have to be first hot, but then also interesting and cool. And I never have sex with somebody without going out with them at least a couple times (the idea grosses me out) so these are the only women i f***. That means I don't have sex much, but I do sometimes, and that's really quite fine with me. Among my friends, I think I am fairly normal, but I'm curious as to whether that's normal here on this forum - i think perhaps it's not?

Also, for a bit of personal advice if you care to contribute, last night I was on a barcrawl with people from my major. There was this one cute girl there who I had basically come specifically for (i'd met her once before, she and I are a rare breed - good looking physics majors). So we were basically hanging on each other all night, and I took her off to the side and asked her whether she'd be around for the summer - I'm doing research here at my Uni, but it turns out she is going out to work at an infrared observatory in another state. So I told her that was cool, told her I'd see her when she gets back, and gave her just one kiss. So my question is, I'm wondering if anybody has bright ideas on how to maximize my chances for next semester. I didn't get her number, cuz what's the point (we've just got finals left, school's out in 10 days) so I don't plan on calling her. Wondering if I should facebook friend her, or just let her think on it with no positive reinforcement... I'll probably do the latter.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Let it go. There's plenty of other women you'll find during the summer. When you bump into her again back at school, then get her number.

This girl isn't the be all and end all. Just open you're eyes, during the summer, there will still be women everywhere on campus.
