I just watched something on the news that men in Winnipeg are being assaulted and robbed when meeting up with women they connected with via a free online dating site They didn't say which site, but the men are invited to meet the woman at her home, and when they arrive they are beaten by a group of people and their wallets are stolen.

Everyone's always so focused on women's safety when it comes to OLD but we forget that men could become victims of crime too. Be careful guys.

I was in a similar situation as the Canadian scam but mine wasn't a scam per se. I was with a chick I met online at a bar that was pretty rough. I was not drinking and was packing thank God. This guy thought I was hitting on his girlfriend, a different chick. She was a friend of the chick I was with. I Was just talking to both of them and he was a jealous insecure animal. I walked out to parking lot and about six or seven of them, him and friends, followed me to the parking lot and we're going to beat my ass. After trying to verbally defuse the situation I flash my badge and gun and told them they better just turn around and exit stage rear back inside. This bought me enough time to get in my car,lock it, and GTF out of Dodge. Close call.

All the tricks to avoid scammers are simple and obvious.
1. Just check girl's messages in the google search. If she is a scammer you're certain to find same messages she sent you. Because the usually repeat themselves.
2. NEVEREVER send her money.
3. Use sites with anti-scam protection. This Ukraine dating service is a good example of safe one.

Its kind of common sense that you never meet a woman who you never met before at her home. Usually its to ensure she isn't a catfish, but for safety reasons too.
