Official House Party Pickup Guide!

Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would like some tips and advice on how to go about being "that guy" at the party and getting with girls.

Lets say you're going to an open house, where you don't know anyone there except for your guy friends you came with.

What is the first thing you'd do?

What is a good way to initiate a conversation with people besides the lame "hey, my name is joe schmoe."

What is a good way to gain social proof within the first 5-10 minutes of getting there, so the rest of the night is smooth sailing without any akward moments?

Feel free to add anymore questions and the guys who are good at picking up girls at house parties, offer your advice.

okay...well I did use the search button and all I found was "how to throw a party" guides...not on how to pickup girls at parties. Can you link me to some quality threads? Search button isn't helping much.

Well, I don't really party, no car or anything. I'm planning to next year though.

It's pretty simple, dude. You have a few beers, loosen up and chat with people, like you already know them.

"Proper picking up", like saying 'hey, i'm xxx, what's your name' or 'i noticed you since i joined this party', sounds pretty lame to me. Just go up to a group of people (it's even easier if there's somebody you know in that group) and say 'hey, what are y'all babbling about' and join the conversation, focusing on EACH AND EVERY PERSON, but with special glances to the girl you like the most.

That sounds about right for getting with a girl. I think I would follow that advice.

Here is what I do:

-drink something (first thing first )
-make some chit chat with people you know, until I get warmed up from the beer
-dance a little (by now you should have checked some nice girls at the party)
-eye contact, smile, approach

I personally think its harder to pick up girls at parties where you do know everyone than ones where you don't.

At a lot of parties I go to everyone knows everyone and they usually aren't in a huge area, so everyone sees what other people are doing so girls usually don't like to leave to go upstairs or anything cause they know other people will be seeing this. Any suggestions on this kind of situation?
