Yeah, it all comes down to diet. Some poor people in the US especially, they can't afford nutritious, healthy food, so they load up on cheap processed food. My comment was said in kind of a tongue in cheek way, but at least they're not going to fall into the Elvis trap, where they become victims to their own unlimited access to pleasures and comfort foods.
I have noticed some poor women who were quite attractive just because they remained so slim, however. Sometimes they might even have bad habits like smoking, which can actually contribute to being thin because they gain oral satisfaction from smoking instead of eating. Sometimes alcohol use can have the same effect. Like most things, it comes down to the individual, their habits, and how they react.
