I have read pretty much everything there is out there (DJ bible, ross jeffries material and NLP, etc etc) but I still need help.
This is my first year at college, and I am commuting to school (usually bus or train). Obviously I have a disadvantage compared to people living at the dorms when it comes to creating a friend-base and spending time with friends.
After this first semester I have a few maybe (2 or 3) friends, but even this small group of people are actually more like "acquaintances".
In high school things weren't too different. I had a lot of friends, but I never really spent time outside of school with them. I mean I knew almost everyone in my grade, and almost everyone knew, respected, and liked me, but I still didn't build solid friendships like other people (ie didnt go to the movies and places with groups of friends, never had a GF or dated, etc.)
I have no problem being social and talking -- in fact thats my area of expertise. I have a good grasp of humor and am generally able to make people laugh without little difficulty.
In college 3 out of 4 of my classes are held in large auditoriums which makes it impossible to talk to anyone. In my 1 class which is small (only about 15 students) I have built up a solid reputation for myself with both my classmates and the teacher -- but alas none of my classmates are really my "friends", we just merely talk a bit before and after class.
In the auditorium like classes talking to a HB is not very easy because the auditoriums can hold about 250 students, but each class has a 125 student limit so everyone spreads out around the auditorium and leaves a 1 or 2 seat "buffer" zone. Groups of friends generally sit together. With so much space in the auditorium it would be too awkward to just spot a HB and just sit right next to them, considering the amount of space in the rows.
If its would just be me and a girl somewhere talking its very easy for my talking skills to take over, but this is not the case in 99% of the time. Most of the time (such as at school events or such) there are hundreds of people and the HBs are in their own groups of friends.
As of right now my life consists of:
B. Going to lectures
C. Eating lunch at one of the cafeterias
D. Riding bus back home
E. Doing homework
(repeat the above steps many many times)
I have no clue what to do at this point.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
