You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.
She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.
Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.
Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.
Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."
You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.
She's been waiting forty minutes.
Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
Ask her to meet you in person and give you her number then. If she refuses and finds another excuse then she is just wasting your time.Originally posted by Juan_Man
If a girl says that she doesn't give out her number online, does that mean rejection? A part of me says yes, but another part is hoping that there could be another explanation. What do you think?

It's all about qualifying...
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
Umm, there's five other days in the week. Now, she's busy, no big deal. Did she give you a counter offer? Women who are interested may not always be readily available but they will offer a time that they are if they want to see you.Originally posted by Juan_Man
She just told me she had plans for the whole weekend. Oh well. NEXT!
This girl didn't even counter-offer. To be honest, I'm just looking to get some. This girl is far from a dreamy hot chick, but she a cute girl on the big side but was do-able. I don't want to make myself look any more desperate than I may have already done so. I just told her to have fun. Thanks for the advice though. Much appreciated.Originally posted by Francisco d'Anconia

This isn't to say that you don't make an offer, but do it the DJ way. Don't just ask if she's free, tell her specifically what you'd like to do and when. She'll either counter with a day that she's available or make an excuse as to why she can't. Either way, you now know what you should do.
Then set your sights on another target; you should usually have a few in the pipeline. Don't dwell on the past, it'll hold you back. Just learn something from the experience, make your adjustments, and then move on.Originally posted by Juan_Man
