Ok, so I've been experimenting with different supplements lately, and thought I would try one of these nitric oxide products I hear about from other gym-rats.
I picked up the fruit punch amp stuff at GNC and gave it a shot. So far, it gives me a nice little boost pre-workout, and I have noticed an increase in energy during the session. I've only been doing it for 2 weeks following a week off of lifting (I usually lift hardcore for about 8 weeks, then take a week off) so I don't know if the extra reps are due to just having fresh muscles or if it's from having that week off.
I had a bit of a problem today and was wondering if anyone has experienced this also...
Typically, I eat an 8oz chicken or turkey breast with some brown rice about an hour before the workout. I've been drinking the NO stuff in the car on the way to the gym. Now, I read on the package that this stuff works best on an empty stomach... so... I ate earlier in the day so my stomach would be empty by the time I worked out. As I drove to the gym, I was overcome with nausea, dizziness, and cold sweats. My body temperature noticably dropped and my pulse became erratic. It was consistent with a hypoglycemic attack of the sorts I had when I was going through radiation therapy a year ago. I went inside the gym and laid down on a couch in the lobby for half an hour and sipped some gatorade. After a while, I was able to get my $hit together enough to make it through a very light workout, and I was able to sort of "sweat off" the dizziness a bit on the treadmill.
So, anyone else have this happen? Could the NO have caused this or was it just a coincidence since I have a history of this sort of thing?
