Pudzianowski was suspended in 2004 for allegedly failing a recreational drug test. WSM does NOT test for anabolics. IFSA does, but there are ways around this.
Double check your work.
He initially finished third in the WSM contest in 2004 but was later disqualified after testing positive for a banned performance enhancing substance. He was forced to return his prize money, stripped of the International Federation of Strength Athletes points from the event, and received a one-year ban from competition. Pudzianowski did not dispute his banned substance violation and waived his right to have his stool sample verified.
A banned performance enhancing substance doesn't necessarily mean anabolics. Could be hgh amongst a ton of other things.
Basically if WSM started implementing serious drug testing for anabolics, they would lose money and it would be bad for the sport. More guys would get caught, resulting in unbalanced competition, more controversy, and a general loss of interest by the public. There are a few natural competitors (by self-admission) but face it, people want to see big motherf*ckers lift big things. It's not in their best interest as WSM has the greatest public appeal out of all the elite strongman championships.
Newsflash, performance enhancing substances are banned everywhere. No matter what you do. I have friends who've taken stuff for physical appeal, college football and I had a girlfriend who abused albuterol to lose weight. IFBB says they test for stuff as well.....Yeah we all see how that has gone.
Also, how can you say Derek Poundstone is not lean?!? Any man who weighs OVER 320 lbs and still has visible abs and serratus is lean, dude. You might be 160 and 5% bf, but you are 160 lbs. Were talking a guy DOUBLE your body weight, with most of that being muscle. I'd say right now he's around 10%. That is phenomenal and close to the same level Pudzianowski rolls in at. Anabolics? No doubt, but drugs or no drugs these guys are freaks of nature.
No doubt those dudes are freaks and VERY strong but fat is fat dude. If your over 8% bodyfat, your fat in my book. Even after a big meals anyone at 4%-6% can look fat when they are bloated. People can have abs at 14%,doesn't mean much at the beach or come time for a photo shoot though. If your abs aren't flush with your mid section and I mean if there is any girth essentially from your higher outer and inner v section to the lowest 2 abs you've lost a few grand from a photo shoot.
That's just my way of seeing things. Guess everyone has a difference of what lean is though.
