Just watched Part 1 last night on HBO/Max. Part 2 airs on July 25th.

I highly recommend, so inspiring and uplifting

I watched the Uptown Girl video. I had never seen it before. I didn't realize that Billy Joel is short. I never have thought much about Billy Joel or his height.

Billy Joel is only 5'5". Christie Brinkley is 5'9"-5'10". If she ever wore heels out in public with him, she would have towered over him.

I could date someone who is 5'9"-5'10" since I am 5'10" myself. It would be more awkward if that woman wore heels or platform shoes out in public with me. She would be taller in the public eye though in reality she would not be taller than I am.

BIG money too! Money was the major reason for the Katie Lee relationship, given that he was 30+ years older than her. A 20 year old in the early 2000s would have had very little knowledge of Billy Joel's musical peak.

I think Katie is fortunate that she didn't have kids with Billy Joel. When they separated, she was 27 and likely starting to think seriously about having kids. She didn't end up having a child until age 38. That's a bit late in life for having a first child.

Christie encouraged rehab and he finally went but relapsed and it was after yet another drunken binge and disappearance that she asked for a divorce.

Billy Joel has been to rehab for alcohol addiction multiple times, including 2 times after his marriage to Christie Brinkley ended. His first rehab stint was in 1992 while still married to Brinkley. He went again in 2002. He also went in 2005 during the early days of his marriage to Katie Lee.

I knew about Christie, I read an excerpt from her new book last night before posting.

From her book:

If that story is true about Billy Joel, he looks pretty bad with that.

That seems like grounds for immediate divorce in a marriage, but too many women would not file for divorce immediately after an incident like that.
