"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

2 weeks ago i met this chick in class, really into me and everything. I'd say she's a 6.9. Good body though. Anyways today were walking after class and she was really digging it, we were brushing sides while walking. She even mentioned how it was intended for us to be leaving at the same time or something. I used a little kino while talking, she didnt use any on me. Im not really attracted to her at all i just wanna fvck. The class is on break btw. So she says she has to use the bathroom and im like ok come back here when your done, I said it twice and serious, and she giggled and said "ok!". Sure enough I wait out there for like 5+ mins and look at my phone and break is already over. She doesnt show.

It didnt piss me off at the time, but I was thinking about waiting for her after class was over and im like nah fvck that b1tch. She may ignore me again and fvckin leave me sittin by myself again. Anyways, i wanna ask you guys if iam being to analytical? is this like a potential flake? This dumb sh1t always happens when im dealing with non hot girls.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Why didn't you wait for her?

Maybe it took her a little bit more time to pee, and put on make up or w/e she needed to do there.

I think you blew it.

Did you say anything to her in class afterwards?

I mean, you told her you'd stay...and then you left.

I believe you are not comprehending me. I might've typed the story in a confusing way. the class is a long class so we have a 15 min break in the middle. during the break we walked around, and i wanted to sit, she said she had to use the john. I told her to come back here, she said she would. I wait. Go back to class. There she is.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Sounds like disrespect. I wouldn't tolerate that. She would really have to do something special for me to be interested in her again.

Calm down. Nothing to worry about this time. However, try another setting, try to get a number, or coffee or lunch, and go from there. That set of circumstances just wasn't a good one to work with.

Ask her if she's got Alzheimer's or something... I don't think it was particularly difficult for her to remember you were waiting for her.
