"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Was at a pub tonight and there was this stunning girl - I was damn sure I was going to pick her up. I was having a good night, feeling confident, and could tell by the way she was mingling that she was single - it was going to be the easiest thing in the world, or so I thought.

I was in a deep conversation with one of my bosses from work and she sat right next to me. Clearly bored, she was checking her phone. Right freaking next to me. But I couldn't get out of this convo with my boss - it went on for like ten minutes, and she sat next to me by herself the entire time. The SECOND my convo with the boss ends, I turn to her and she had just stood up and walked away.

A couple minutes later I decide to cross the room and go talk to her, but just as I was two steps away I got intercepted by another friend who wanted to do the chit chat. I was able to escape that quickly, but not quick enough to get to the girl before she sat down with another guy and there she stayed for the next twenty minutes.

I couldn't stay there all night and I was done talking to the people I was going to talk to that night. I felt like I was just lingering around, waiting to talk to her. I don't like feeling that way - it took me from feeling confident to feeling AFC.

Would you guys have done as I did - and just said ah well and moved on with your life? Or something different?

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Couldn't you have tried bringing her into the conversation with your boss when she was sitting next to you? Maybe asked her opinion on the subject you were discussing?

Not really, we were talking about some heavy work stuff - bringing in a random stranger wouldn't have been very appropriate.

It's not like I was talking to Michael Scott... I work in show business and networking outside of work is pretty key. In this particular instance, we were talking about ideas for a future project. He and I don't get to talk often enough that it would have been wise to say, "Know what, let's talk about this more later." I was aware of the choice I had at the time - possibility of picking up a hot girl vs possibility of making some good things happen in my career. I went with career and in that particular moment I'm happy with my priorities.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Sometimes it just doesn't happen, man. No one to blame but the universe.
