Edwards isn't a downgrade for her. He is one of the young stars of the league, is charismatic, and yes, is also worth millions himself and is worth more than Sydney Sweeney at the moment if you are using that as your litmus test. Granted, he isn't looking to wife her up like her fiancee would have been and just wants to probably pump her for a few months. And that is likely mutual as I doubt Sweeney is looking for anything permanent. So I suppose from that standpoint she is choosing excitement over stability. Sounds familiar from what we know of female nature.

I would say I doubt most white men are going to care if they think they can sleep with Sydney Sweeney whether she has slept with a black man before. In fact, in my experience, even among white men who say this, if the opportunity presents itself to sleep with a beautiful/hot woman, regardless of who she has been with before, they will take it.

I’m not trying to single them out here, and I’m not exactly sure what your point is, but I’m using them as an example to show that as long as people can spread misinformation under the pretense of “opinion”, “entertainment,” or “analysis”, there will always be an incentive to do so, especially if it attracts viewers and followers. It’s also a function of the content demanded by their audience; if garbage gets clicks and revenue, garbage gets written.

My point is the obviously corrupt society that is the US will force people to back down from drawing obvious conclusions as a means of enforcing prevailing propaganda. I’m not sure how that relates to the Facebook page and the meme about Anthony Edwards and Sydney Sweeney supposedly dating, especially when there are no reports about it on other websites. If something like that were actually true, I’d assume major outlets would be reporting it because two high-profile celebrities and their fanbases would generate a massive amount of traffic and ad revenue. The only website that shows this information is this Facebook page called Sports Highlights.

The more likely explanation is that it isn’t real and that it’s just sensationalism designed for engagement farming. As I said before, pages like this benefit from clicks, shares, and reactions, even if the information is misleading. If something like that were ever challenged legally, the defense would probably claim it’s protected under freedom of expression while the post itself disregards or obscures important context.

I understand that people can have different perspectives, tastes, and opinions, but that argument falls flat here. My argument is that the primary goal of misinformation-style media is profit, even if it is done out of malice. Truth to be told, none of these people are promoting sensational claims, conspiracies, or outrage-driven narratives out of the kindness of their hearts or to make the world a better place. For example, the Fox News case showed that the executives were aware the network was reporting false claims but continued doing so to retain viewers for financial reasons. Also, Alex Jones built a fortune selling products while making conspiracy theories.
