"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Alright I know we have had the "dealing with parents threads," before. But this is way different.
My dad grew up kind of poor with conservative parents. He had meals and all of that but never had any luxuries. He spent all of his weekends working with his dad basically on a farm. Or someother way to help his dad. My mom was in a fairly average income family. Her parents treated her and her sisters well. Took them places and all of that. Remind you they were born in the 50's.

My parents know both work for the government. They've took classes on psychology and presenting people things in good ways. Yes weird classes. They know when people are lying because they had to learn how to identify that. They've worked their for awhile and they seem to be good at it. They have all the training to do identify liars, make deals, and convince people into things they may not want to do.

My dad has also spent his money on real estate. He's made a lot of money on that. He's obviously a smart guy. My grandparents and others were even commenting on how well he does on that. We don't live in a nice house with a government salary.

That was the background. Now see because my parents can do all these things it makes me wonder when I talk with them or try to get them to let me do something. They ALWAYS end up winning in some way or another. For instance I'm just outside sitting on the balcony on our hotel watching the city when my dad tells me to come inside. I ask "why?" He says with his eyes like flaring "You're being disrespectful. Come in now or you'll see what will happen." I get that a lot. My dad seems to be superficial and wishing it was the 50's again. If I wanted to go outside to a party I'm just guessing I won't have a chance. Hell I can't even sneak out because my dad can wake up to any kind of sound now. Seriously I was sneaking out one time and I was moving SO slow and just walked into the hallway. My dad has been asleep for about 30 mins and he yells "Why are you awake!?"

I just don't know how I'm going to be able to do anything. It's either his way or ...I don't know. I want to be able to go a lot of parties and stay out late at night. But how would be the best way to approach this? This isn't a very straight forward question but let me sum it up for you.

How's the best way to deal with a dad who works at the government, wishes it was the 50's again and is superficial?

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

That's nothing new.

Conservative parents? At least they give a **** about you. Trust me, you don't want peoples that are very liberal in their lifestyles. Now what's the problem here? They won't let you out?

I don't know what the problem is. You're never going to win in an arguement with your parents because they're experienced in that stuff. All parents live in their teenage years.

I'm glad they give a **** about me. But sometimes they don't seem...human to me. Any ideas though to get out or anything?

Whats worked for me to get out of curfew is to go to the party....and then crash at your friends house so your parents never know when you got home.

Just tell them that your sleeping at your friends house.

^^ Exactly, but if your drinking, dont start until you are sure there is no chance your parents could call you, and your dont go to a party that is 30 minutes away, but say your going to a friends house down the street, cause then if an emergency comes up, or they want you back home for any reason then you will obviously get caught. You have to wait late enough to drink, that if your parents call you can not answer and they wont be suspicious, such as 11 or 12 probably, that way you can say you fell asleep watching a movie at your friends house and didnt hear the phone. And if you cant drive, idk how old you are?, then it will be harder to get away, but if you do drive and you drink, and your parents want you home, WHATEVER YOU DO DONT DRIVE even if they say you have to come home now, cause that will only be worse, and my parents told me this once, that you will be in so much less trouble if you learn your lesson and tell the truth and be safe, than if you keep lying and do something such as driving home drunk cause you could get a DUI, get in an accident or worse than that, kill someone or kill yourself, so which one do you think you would be in less trouble on?

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

MY parents are the same way sometime best way to get around it is to just try get on their good side get them to trust you and just talking to them. I had a ? for coolguy. How long would you wiat to drive after you drink. Like let's say you were drinking till 12 and stoped a 12. When would it be a good time to get behind the wheel if you had nothing to drink after that' 130-2:00 ???

Until you are sober, you can tell. Wait two hours after you feel sober though, then drive.
