My girl´s car

My girls car is like 10 years old and stops working all the time. She keeps having it fixed only for it to stop working again after a while.

I feel like I been telling her to get a new car since forever but she claims to not have enough money. Its not like she´s broke or in a lot of debt (every year she pays herself a medical insurance and that is not cheap; and she pays for our meals more than half the time) but still she claims she cant afford a new car right now.

Assuming I had money to spare and I could help her, Im afraid helping her would make her see me as a provider, and I think that´s a double edge sword, isnt it? What´s your advice bros?

I know many guys try and solve problems, including myself, but more often with women you have to let them solve their own problems and just support them in doing so the best way you can without doing it for them.

It kind of depends on the car and what is wrong with it. 10 years isn't that old, but some cars are just lemons.

Her having a car in good working order is not a priority that holds much value to her. Therefore you stepping in to fix something you perceive as a problem will not make many points for you in her eyes. I'd spend my time/money on something else that means more to her.

I used to keep my exgf's truck clean. I did it when I had some extra time and wanted to do something nice. I also did it because I hate dirty vehicles. She appreciated it to a point, but having a clean vehicle was never a priority for her. Eventually I got busy with other things and quit doing it. I don't even think she missed me not cleaning her vehicle.

When you do things for people, make sure it matters to them. That deposit(act of doing something for the other) needs to make an impact in their emotional bank account. Thats how true appreciation works. Its needs to be received and mean something to the other person, not just you.

What other things is she flushing her chips in that isn't a major priority like right now ? get a birds eyeview on that as well
As a straight shooter though , if you do want to scratch her back a little maybe take the car yourself along with her to a reputable mechanic shop so they can plug in the computer and do a visual to diagnose exactly what the issues are. maybe the other mechanics are just putting band aid solutions to the real misfires of the car. They take advantage of women most of the time with mickey mouse labor/parts and fraud charges. let her see that you are lining up some leads to help her cause but dont pay out of pocket if the car has major problems. Thats on her until she is your wife. by me legworking all that tho ^^ I should have good behavior from her with more sexual favors in the bank for the time im investing.

towards being 'strong and independent"? If so, let her solve the car problems herself... else, you will probably have to lean in and solve this situation.
